The Journal of Innate Metabolism (JIM) is the official journal of the Italian Society for the Study of Hereditary Metabolic Diseases and Newborn Screening (SIMMESN).
JIM is an international, peer-reviewed journal that aims to improve the understanding and management of inherited metabolic diseases. It publishes high-quality basic clinical and translational research on all aspects of inherited metabolic diseases in humans and animal models.
The journal welcomes contributions that explore the clinical (across different medical specialties in both children and adults), laboratory (biochemical, molecular, genetic), dietary, psychological, epidemiological, ethical, and methodological dimensions of research in metabolic disorders.
It also features comparisons of critical diagnostic, therapeutic, and organizational novelties on controversial topics in the field. These often involve SIMMESN Technical and Working Groups, as well as other implicated stakeholders.
JIM also publishes a selection of the most relevant scientific contributions presented at the annual symposia of SIMMESN and its affiliated societies. All published material, including content identified as of particular interest to SIMMESN and its affiliated societies, undergoes a rigorous peer-review process.
